When professing Christians bear false witness against others, a sin that is specifically prohibited in the Ten Commandments; seek to deprive Gay people of civil and sacramental rights; preach that being Gay is a sin; drive many Gay people to lives of suffering, shame, guilt, and even suicide; help foment the rage against Gay people, leading some people to even murder them, if that is not hate, I don't know what is.

You write, "My church and myself believe it is what God word says, a sin to be gay."

What you believe the Bible says is completely irrelevant, if that belief contradicts the Bible. Nowhere in the Bible is homosexuality even mentioned, let alone condemned, as the word "homosexual" never appeared in any of the biblical manuscripts, as it was a word coined in the late 19th Century, and first appeared in an English translation of the Bible in the 1946 Revised Standard Version of the Bible.

I urge you to read Rick Brentlinger's book, "Gay Christian 101," to find out about all this material; you might also read many of the links in the Links section of this blog that might show you that what you have been taught about the "sinfulness" of being Gay is a big lie.

I once believed as you did, until I studied the evidence for myself, looked at the Greek words, the context of the passages to which you undoubtedly refer, the whole context of the Bible, and extra-biblical references before I finally came to the conclusion that all too many clergy and professing Christians have been spewing downright lies to others about the nature and lives of Gay people, causing untold suffering and harm to Gay people and their families.

If you are intellectually and spiritually honest, you will do more research to see the veracity of what I and many scholars in this area are telling you regarding the propounding of lies about Gay people .Jerry Manekerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00748201321055468172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2688218899576616463.post-39254192732095691252009-01-22T02:33:00.000-08:002009-01-22T02:33:00.000-08:00I am a christian, I do not discriminate or hate ga...I am a christian, I do not discriminate or hate gay or lesbian people. I have known a few and loved them very much. I pray for them. As we all should. My church and myself believe it is what God word says, a sin to be gay. However this des not leave room for hate or discrimination. The first commandment of Jesus is to love one another. Just because christians disagree with the gay life does not mean we hate them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
