Actually, if you can't find a church that is truly embracing of everyone, it's best to avoid such a toxic church, and you're far better off worshipping alone, or perhaps join or begin a Bible-study with like-minded Christians where you can both worship God and have the fellowship that you desire.

If worse comes to worse, and you can't get a Bible-study group and/or worship group together, then it's far better to worship God alone than it is to be a part of any structure that is in any way homophobic and/or exclusionary.

Churches, clergy, and professing Christians who refuse to fully embrace God's LGBT children are putting themselves in the place of God, and don't deserve the credibility and money your presence in their churches would afford them.

Moreover, you don't deserve to in any way be treated as a second-class Christian and/or second-class human being! I enjoyed this post a lot and agreed with what you've said here.

I did have one question, though. You said in your post that one is better off not going to church at all, than going to one where you're not fully accepted for who you are. How does one then find the sacred and the fellowship we crave, especially for those of us with mobility issues and or disabilities? Or those who live in remote areas where options are limited? Online groups are nice, but not the same as flesh and blood contact if you know what I mean?Megnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2688218899576616463.post-39019223097682869692010-11-21T18:30:01.546-08:002010-11-21T18:30:01.546-08:00God bless you for saying that, Roger.
