"A Church that doesn't provoke any crisis, a gospel that doesn't unsettle, a word of God that doesn't get under anyone's skin, a word of God that doesn't touch the real sin of society in which it is being proclaimed, what gospel is that? Archbishop Oscar Romero (1917-1980) "Never let other people define your reality or put you into bondage to their ways of thinking." Jerry Maneker.
Lt. Choi has displayed a lot of poor judgment of late, but we both agree that he has great leadership potential. I sincerely hope he can realize that potential. The equality struggle needs the very best he has to offer, and nothing else.
I agree, Don Charles! Combining a savvy, articulate, and committed charismatic individual like Lt. Choi, with presenting a dignified and aggressive activist face on LGBT individuals and allies, absent the use of counterproductive terms like "tranny," "queer," "gender queer," and the like, will move this civil rights movement exponentially forward.
Also, having one umbrella organization that aggressively speaks for LGBT Rights, particularly in society and in the courts, absent careerist aspirations and/or professional "activists" largely seeking their 15 minutes of fame, will likely go a long way toward achieving full and equal civil rights in the foreseeable future. Best wishes, Jerry.
