SAME-SEX MARRIAGE NOW LEGAL IN CONNECTICUT

This is great news! Same-sex marriage is now legal in Connecticut.

"The Connecticut supreme court Friday issued a 4-3 decision in favor of eight gay couples who were the plaintiffs in Kerrigan and Mock v. the Connecticut Department of Public Health, effectively legalizing same-sex marriage in the state. Connecticut will now become the third state in the country behind Massachusetts and California where gay couples are allowed equal access to marriage. As in California and Massachusetts, out-of-state couples will be eligible to marry in Connecticut."

"'The Supreme Court has spoken,' [Gov.] Rell said in a statement. 'I do not believe their voice reflects the majority of the people of Connecticut. However, I am also firmly convinced that attempts to reverse this decision-either legislatively or by amending the state Constitution-will not meet with success.'"

Gov. Rell is wise enough to realize that we are a nation under LAW; not under the prejudices and whims of PEOPLE.

This ruling should encourage those of us who see same-sex marriage as a civil rights issue to continue moving the ball forward; one way of doing that is to do our very best to see that Proposition 8 in California is defeated!

It will happen quickly or slowly, but we are to have absolutely no doubt that same-sex marriage will eventually be legal in every single state in the U.S!

Hi Gennee: There's no doubt in my mind that same-sex marriage will be a reality throughout this nation. The issue isn't if, but when.
