A COMMENTARY BY DON CHARLES ON BISHOP JOHN SPONG'S MANIFESTO

Please read the excellent two-part post, You Can't Go Halfway, by my good friend Don Charles.

It deals with Bishop John Spong's essay, A Manifesto! The Time Has Come!

All Christians and all decent people should read both Spong's essay and Don Charles' two-part post.

It's important to remember that one can be a decent person and not be a Christian! However EVERY SINGLE Christian is a decent person, and if one is not a decent person, he/she is not a Christian!

Jerry,

The new blog photo is excellent . . . do I detect a passing resemblance to Edward Asner, star of my favorite 1970s TV series "Lou Grant"? How appropriate! News editor Grant made a career out of getting at the truth.

Thanks so much, Don Charles! I really appreciate that! The last photo was taken by my daughter about four years ago, and I looked a lot younger then, so I have mixed feelings about seeing a current picture (up close, no less) of myself. I really appreciate your comment! Best wishes, Jerry.

Jerry,

I love the new picture. In fact, it looks better than the old photo: More color, better definition, and you are hardly an ogre when it comes to physical appearance. If you doubt me, consult Mrs. Eileen about it. You can trust her judgment implicitly!

I think it´s a nice photo too...quite solid and inspiring...yet friendly...not to be messed with but in a good way.

Best to you and yours,

Leonardo

You still look young, Jerry.

Thanks so much for that, Don Charles! Eileen says I haven't changed a bit in all these years, but I know she has blinders on when it comes to me.

Thanks so much, Leonardo. That's a very kind thing to say. My very best to you and yours as well. Jerry.

Thanks genevieve. In my head, I feel as if I'm 18 years old, but physically it's a completely different story. Eileen says I look young, too, but believe me when I tell you that "the Golden Years" is a myth! I'm pushing 70 and I feel every bit of it. Best wishes, Jerry.
