VOTE "NO" ON PROPOSITION 8 IN CALIFORNIA

UPDATE: November 3, 2008:

This brief video, that could be applicable to all churches and denominations that have poured money into passing the discriminatory and mean-spirited Proposition 8 in California, says it all:

UPDATE: November 1, 2008:

ALSO:

"At St. Peter's Catholic Church in Sacramento, congregants nodded in agreement when the Rev. Rodolfo Llamas urged them to vote for Proposition 8.

"'This vote is insulting God,' said Llamas to the 200 parishioners at the 8:30 a.m. Mass.'

No, Rev. Llamas! You and other professing Christians are the ones who are insulting God, in that you advocate discrimination to be codified by constitutional law; oppression and defaming of others, and you do so in the name of God. These are things that the Bible clearly shows Jesus would never do! It is you and your ilk, and the ones who are gullible enough to give such statements of yours and other clergy who share your prejudice credibility, who are the ones who are perverting Christianity and defaming God in the process!

[For the full article, see here.]

ALSO:

"To think that in this upcoming election there is actually a proposition to add an amendment to the California Constitution to legalize discrimination! Shame on us! This proposition is not about gay marriage; it's about hate, discrimination and intolerance of diversity. It is wholesale, unadulterated hate-mongering and it MUST be snuffed out in a dramatic fashion at once to illustrate to those behind it that in America we embrace the neighbor who might be different from us and are proud of it!

"So to all you TRUE Americans, get out there and vote on November 4th, and let's reject hate."

This frightening video would be considered a joke if it weren't for real!

If Christians are called to do anything, it's to love and not judge others. We are certainly not called to in any way exclude others from equal standing in society or to in any way relegate other human beings to pariah status as second-class citizens.

Please forward this video to all people, Christian and non-Christian alike, to help reinforce the need to go to the polls and vote "NO" on Proposition 8 that seeks to write discrimination into California's Constitution, thereby contravening the California Supreme Court's ruling that forbidding same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.

Despite what this video depicts, Christians who are the genuine article are not a pack of harsh, censorious, judgmental freaks!

To say that this display seeking to deprive others of dignity and equal civil rights is a blasphemy against God, and a perversion of Christianity, is a gross understatement!

Now, check out this video likening the fight for equality with the mission of Adolph Hitler:

It is such ignorance and/or hate that Christians and all decent people are to confront and overcome if we are to have any semblance of civility in society!

I am a Christian and I will never associate myself with 'advocating rights' that God condemns. How can you say the bible is NOT God? Are you serious? If you read the bible you would know that it's GOD'S WORD, therefore you do NOT change it to what you want it to say. As in, advocating things he is against. There is a difference in treating homosexuals with respect but it is not right, and I don't see how you could in the same sentence say 'Christian Voice for Gays, Lesbians, and Transgenders.' That, is not a Christian belief.

Yes it is a "Christian belief!" It is not "Christian" to in any way advocate discrimination against anyone!

Moreover, the Bible never condemns homosexuality, as can be seen in a number of links in the Links section of this blog, and as trenchantly shown in Rick Brentlinger's book, "Gay Christian 101," that I urge you to seriously read.

To link Jesus with discrimination against anyone, is ludicrous in the extreme!

It must be remembered that Jesus saved his harshest words for the religious legalists and perfectionists of his time, those smug, self-righteous, religious leaders who discriminated against others.

And Jesus specifically told all who would follow Him that they were never to discriminate or judge or condemn, but said that all the laws and the works of the prophets could be summed up in the Great Commandments: Love God and love our neighbor as ourselves.

Anyone who claims that the Bible is God has not read the Bible, for it clearly says, in the Ten Commandments: "You will have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in Heaven above, or that is in the Earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall neither bow yourself down to them, nor serve them." Show me a Bible that was not made by human hands, and then MAYBE you can make me believe that the Bible is God. People who worship the Bible are idolaters, plain and simple, and all the mock pious outrage in the word can't change that fact.

Hi Don Charles: I wish every professing Christian knew that fundamental point! The object of idolatry isn't restricted to a golden calf!
